Honoring Your Generosity
The UF President’s House was the site of a special College of Medicine celebration on Oct. 20, organized to thank faculty, staff and friends for their exceptional generosity to the Florida Tomorrow: Campaign for Medicine.
Dr. Michael L. Good, interim dean of the College of Medicine, and Dr. Robert C. Nuss, dean of the Jacksonville Regional Campus, hosted the event.
In welcoming the 100-plus guests, Dr. Good noted the significant effect that the diverse group of donors has had on the College of Medicine.
“Donors to the College of Medicine have helped us accomplish our goals of today and foster our vision of our college tomorrow,” he said. “We know that without external support, our researchers would be limited in the critical discoveries they could bring to fruition; that many students might not have access to the education they richly deserve; and that we might be limited in recruiting the best academic and clinical talent. However, our horizon is broad and bright because of the efforts of everyone in this room.”
Dr. Nuss also expressed his gratitude for the philanthropic efforts that have benefitted the Jacksonville campus.
“Jacksonville has big dreams for the future,” he said. “These include expansion of our research efforts to ensure a dynamic environment of medical discovery, enhancing existing and creating new endowments to continue to attract and retain the very best talent in medicine, and adding bricks and mortar to enrich our physical presence. We know that our future is so much brighter because of your generosity and commitment.”
