The UF College of Medicine Office of Development and Alumni Affairs held its second Jacksonville Supper Club event March 17 at India House Restaurant in Jacksonville.

Nine UF College of Medicine students rotating in Jacksonville were invited to dinner by ophthalmologist Ravi Patel, M.D. ’02, and his wife, Reena. Three other alumni also made a surprise visit: cardiologist Ambar Patel, M.D. ’07; ophthalmologist Rachana Patel M.D. ’06; and urologist Shawn West, M.D. ’03.

Over dinner, the alumni offered students advice and perspectives from their various specialties, and students learned about the business side of medicine, including how to establish a private practice and how to work with insurance plans. At the end of the evening, students were even able to set up shadowing opportunities with the alumni.
